The Spa Car On Belmond’s Royal Scotsman Train
Spas are a common thing at luxury hotels.
It's not often that you find one on a train. It makes sense though because if
you are sitting on a train with nothing to do you might as well enjoy a bit of
pampering. Belmond's Royal Scotsman train is now offering a spa car. Passengers
can pass the time in a very luxurious way. While a few services can be pricey,
some passengers may choose to indulge in the spa the next time they are on this
train journey.
The Itineraries
The Bamford Haybarn Spa car will be part of
the itinerary that makes a round trip from Edinburgh. There are a variety of
itineraries to choose from that range from two to seven nights. The train
departs from Edinburgh and takes travelers through the Scottish Highlands.
While on the train passengers can view landmarks such as Cairngorms National
Park and Kyle of Lochalsh. Each cabin is appointed with a steward service to
take care of any of the passenger's needs as they arise. On board there is an
open veranda as well as an observation car. Passengers are served Scottish
dishes while on the train.
The Treatments
These aren't your typical spa treatments.
Treatments are designed with each individual in mind. They connect the soul,
mind and spirit. For instance, the Bamford Bespoke Facial features not just a
facial, but lymphatic drainage, yogic breathing, reflexology of the face and a
deep tissue massage along with the use of hot stones. Each of the products used contain organic
ingredients and passengers can enjoy complimentary bath amenities in their
cabin. Treatments will include basically anything that you find at a typical
spa. This includes facials, manicures and pedicures and massages. Treatments
are add-ons and not included in the fare that starts around $5,600 per person.
Some of the prices are as follows: $32 for a pedicure, $94 for a 55 minute
facial and $138 for an 85 minute massage, foot bath and reflexology.
The Experience
The spa carriage was designed with
sustainable wood from the local area. There are two treatment rooms that have
picture windows. This allows each participant to see the beautiful countryside
as they are taking part in a treatment. For those that have a busy schedule and
don't have time to schedule a spa treatment, this is a great option as it
allows them to take part in treatments while they are going from one location
to another.
Despite the fact that services do tend to cost a little more than they would if they were done in an actual salon, spots are filling up quickly. So for those that are interested in booking any treatments they shouldn't wait until they are on the train to try to seek services as they may sell out. It's best to book treatments when you book your train ticket. Some passengers may be hesitate about getting a spa treatment on a train because they are worried about bumps or turns. However, the high speed of the train keeps it from being a bumpy ride and the conductor doesn't make any sudden stops that could ruin the whole spa experience.
